The yard
Johnston City yards
Yards on older streets tend to have big trees, uneven ground and a lot of edge to trim.
Mowing here is mostly about doing the edges right.
Fall leaves bury a lawn fast, so we clear them in the spring and fall cleanups.
If the yard got away from you, tell us. We have mowed overgrown yards down to a clean lawn.
Soil in this part of Williamson County is silt loam over a dense layer that holds water.
Lawns stay soggy in spring and bake hard in summer.
Fall is the right time to aerate and overseed, and tall fescue is the usual answer for this heat.
Summer here runs hot, with about 40 days a year at 90 degrees or more.
Thin grass struggles in that, so thicker turf in the fall pays off the next July.
