Aeration & Overseeding in Marion, IL Thin lawn, thick again.

Aerate the soil, put seed down, and feed what comes up.

A thin lawn is usually a hungry, packed-down one.

Foot traffic, mowing and heavy clay all squeeze the soil.

Grass roots then have a hard time getting water, air and food.

We offer lawn aeration, overseeding and fertilizing in Marion, Carbondale and Goreville.

They fit together well, but you can ask for any one of them.

Tell us how the lawn looks and we will tell you what it needs.

On April 18 we aerated and overseeded a lake house at Lake of Egypt.

That job shows how the pieces fit.

Our words

"Crabgrass lives in your soil."

Aeration opens the ground

An aerator pulls small plugs out of the soil.

That lets water, air and nutrients reach the roots.

It also gives seed a place to land.

We run a stand-on aerator across the lawn in tight passes.

Corners and edges get a second look, since mowers pack those down most.

Overseeding fills the gaps

Seed goes on after aeration, when it can drop into the holes.

At Lake of Egypt, the bag read Kentucky 31.

Robbie loaded it into the aerator and walked the lawn with a red hand spreader afterward.

Kentucky 31 is a tall fescue, a common pick for lawns in our area.

Tell us if you want something different and we will talk it through.

Fertilizing feeds the new grass

Young grass needs food to fill in.

Fertilizer gives it a start, and the timing depends on the season and what is growing.

We do not run a fixed program.

We look at your lawn first, then tell you what makes sense for it.

When to call

Spring and fall both work for seed in southern Illinois.

Fall is the usual favorite for fescue, because heat is behind you.

I would highly recommend this service to anyone looking to enhance the curb appeal of their home. Robbie is amazing to work with! His attention to detail is unmatched. The before and after speaks for itself!
